SugaBrown

“Well behaved women barely make history” - unknown

Kristin “SugaBrown” Price is a driven singer- songwriter, producer, musician and engineer. Her music is a combination of different styles composing of R&B, Blues, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, Go-Go, Rock and Gospel. Kristin would discover her talents working with a theater company at a very early age and would continue on this quest to be recognized for her talents.

Born in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and raised by her parents, Kristin attended John F. Kennedy High School and after graduating, attended State University New York Purchase College earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Production as well as a Master’s Degree in Music Composition. Soon after Kristin returned home and developed a music production company called Priceless Music and her alter-ego SugaBrown.

SugaBrown started off writing, producing and mixing for other artists to build up her clientele but soon realized that maintaining a business when people weren’t taking their careers seriously would not generate results. Suga then decided to write for her own voice and produce an album that was in her own words.  Suga also wanted to break all rules regarding the outline of the album by making it hard for people to categorize the music. Suga expanded the music and lyrics by adding her sister, brother-in-law, and a couple of close friends to the album to bring real life situations to the forefront.

During the time Suga was working on her album, she was presented with the opportunity to place one of her songs on Hidden Beach recording artists, Kindred the Family Soul’s, second album.  Kindred titled the song “Where Would I be (The Question),” and that song would ultimately become the album’s first single.  This single would peak at #2 on the billboard Hot R&B / Hip-Hop Recurrent, and on R&B Airplay peaked at #1.

SugaBrown’s first album “Got Suga?” was released in February 2009 and is available on ITunes and a variety of online music retailers.
